# Waivers, and booking for a child.

Every booking is signed for before it is confirmed. A child's is signed by their parent or guardian, and a signed waiver is kept for as long as it can matter.

## What does a client sign, and who signs for a child?

The waiver you write. A booking is confirmed only once it is signed for every person on it, and for a child by their parent or guardian. A client signs after opening a link sent to their email address, which is how a signature is known to be theirs. Each signature records the text that was signed and when.

## What happens when I change my waiver?

A client who makes a lesson weekly signs once, and that signature covers each week while your waiver's text is unchanged; when you change it, no week is paid for until they sign again.

## How long is a signed waiver kept?

A signed waiver is kept for five years, or a child's until they are 20, whichever is later. California pauses the clock on a claim until a child turns 18, which is why a child's waiver is kept past it.

Nobody can delete a signed waiver before then, you included, and a client's request to be deleted keeps it: a waiver is evidence in exactly the situation it was signed for. The [privacy page](https://palaestral.com/privacy) lists everything kept and for how long.
