For mornings the ocean decides.
Palaestral is booking, payments and client-record software for an independent instructor who sells their own time — surf, yoga, running, strength. Surf lessons start at dawn, run on a forecast and come back with the summer. Call a flat morning off in one press, offer each client another time or a refund on your terms, and keep what you noted about them through the off-season.

Answer by Sat, Jun 12 at 8:00 AM No answer, and you are refunded.
- Called off
- One press calls the morning off and emails everyone booked on it.
- Another time
- You can offer each booking a later time instead, with its seat there held until the client answers.
- The deadline
- Up to 48 hours, or until the new time stops taking bookings. Silence never moves a booking: no answer is refunded on your terms for conditions.
Sample data. Not a real instructor or client.
- 48 hours, at most, a seat on another time is held
- 24 months your notes are kept, past an off-season
- 14 days' notice before a client's lessons expire
What suits surf
- Booking
Set a lesson's days and hour once. Its times are kept in the lesson's own time zone, so a dawn session at 6:30 am is still at 6:30 am after the clocks change.
- Waivers
A booking with a child on it confirms only once their parent or guardian has signed for them, and the waiver is kept for 5 years, or until they are 20 if that is later.
- Clients
What you noted about a client last summer is there when they book again: notes are kept 24 months from the day you write them, and only you see them.
- Packs & memberships
Sell lessons by the pack for a season of forecasts. Whoever holds lessons that expire is told 14 days before they do, since a week of flat water is ordinary.

- Cancellation terms
How much comes back when a client cancels, when you call a lesson off, or when conditions do: the terms you set, copied onto each booking when it is sold.
- Waivers and minors
What a client signs, who signs for a child, how long a signed waiver is kept and why nobody can delete it early: the rules a booking holds to.
- Moving your clients
Upload the people you already teach with your notes and the lessons they have left, check what will be written, and decide whether anybody is told.
