Palaestral

A pack that keeps count, class by class.

Palaestral is booking, payments and client-record software for an independent instructor who sells their own time — surf, yoga, running, strength. Sell a class by the place, each person paying for their own, or as a pack your regulars spend as they book. One they cancel early enough for your terms goes back on the pack.

The pack
Classes a client buys at once and spends as they book, signed in at their own address.
A class cancelled in time
Cancelled 48 hours ahead, which your terms refund in full, so the class goes back on the card. Classes come back whole, rounded down.
As a gift
Any pack can be bought for somebody else, and then its classes never expire and carry no fees.

Sample data. Not a real instructor or client.

  • 2 places in the queue for each seat of a full class
  • 14 days' warning before a pack's unused classes lapse
  • 24 months your note about a client is kept

What suits yoga

  • Booking

Each person in a small class books and pays for their own place, so nobody collects money from a friend. A full class takes a queue of 2 places for every seat, and a seat that comes free is held for the next in line.

  • Packs & memberships

A pack is spent a class at a time as it is booked, and its holder is told 14 days before unused classes lapse. Any pack can be bought as a gift, and a gift's classes never expire and carry no fees.

  • Studios

Teach at a studio under the same name and the same page. A larger share for the studio applies only once you accept it, and the studio never sees your notes, your class plans or your payment records.

  • Clients

Your notes about each client sit beside their bookings, signatures and payments, and a note is kept 24 months from the day you write it.

  • Packs, memberships and weekly places

Three ways to sell more than one lesson: a pack of lessons used as they are booked, a membership charged monthly, and a weekly place kept until it ends.

  • Gift lessons

Any of your lesson packs can be bought for somebody else: lessons that never expire and carry no fees, used by the person they were sent to.

  • Cancellation terms

How much comes back when a client cancels, when you call a lesson off, or when conditions do: the terms you set, copied onto each booking when it is sold.
